Family counselling for parenting and other family concerns includes topics such as:

  • Starting a family
  • Adjusting to the arrival of a child
  • Attaining balance in life as a busy parent
  • Behaviour problems in young children
  • Dealing with adolescence and acting-out teens
  • Blended families and step-parenting
  • Single parenthood
  • Domestic violence and abuse
  • The empty nest and launching young adults
  • Retirement
  • Grandparenting
  • Caring for aging parents
  • Conflict with adult children, parents, in-laws, or extended family
  • Illness or death in the family

Family counselling can help you:

  • Gain confidence in your parenting
  • Learn to deal constructively with children’s problematic behaviour
  • Acquire insight into your family’s patterns of functioning
  • Establish a more harmonious atmosphere in your home and in extended family relationships
  • Promote respectful communication
  • Adjust more smoothly to family life transitions
  • Take action to prevent, or protect yourself or loved ones, from unmanageable problems
  • Find balance in meeting your needs and those of your children or elderly parents

Family counselling sessions may be conducted with just one family member present, with both parents, with parent and child, or with members of the extended family.  Please note that I do not see children alone.
